Project Veritas sent undercover journalists to Texas to investigate Battleground Texas, an organization with the stated mission of turning Texas into a blue state. Our cameras revealed widespread institutional illegalities being committed by Battleground Texas. As we discovered, Battleground Texas was illegally taking voter data and compiling the information in databases set up by the organization. In violation of Texas state laws, Battleground Texas was obtaining this information from their voter registration data and then using that information to call these individuals and encourage them to vote.
Battleground Texas was founded by Obama’s former national field director Jeremy Bird and is staffed by largely former Obama campaign operatives. Battleground Texas’ illegal data mining methods and the close ties the organization’s leadership has leads to very serious questions regarding how President Obama’s campaign obtained such high-quality data. So high quality in fact, it is said to have swung the 2012 election.

BREAKING NEW VIDEO: Battleground Texas Illegally Copying Voter Data
In this video, a Battleground Texas volunteer talks about forging signatures on official voting documents–which is voter fraud–nonchalantly saying, "It happens all the time."
Battleground Texas Field Organizer Jennifer Longoria was caught on camera multiple times making statements such as, "So every time we register someone to vote we keep their name and number." Doing so however, is illegal. According to the Secretary of State, it is unlawful to transcribe, copy, or otherwise record a telephone number furnished on a voter registration application. If they can get Texans to vote, Longoria said, they can "change the elections pretty drastically." Even scarier, Longoria was training others to become deputy registrars and register Texans to vote. No doubt, using the same illegal methods.

Lt. Gov Dewhurst Demands State Investigation into Battleground Texas
Dewhurst referenced our video in a letter to the Secretary of State, “I find these efforts to hijack the registration process for partisan gain entirely unacceptable.” A Bexar County elections official also stated she sent a report to the Secretary of State and that constituents called their office very concerned about their private information. Part 1: Reaction
Battleground Texas had a delayed response to the illegal activity caught on tape, and instead chose to attack James O'Keefe personally. James O’Keefe made the following statement about these attacks in a recent op-ed to Breitbart.com: “Perhaps the most shocking however is Battleground Texas’ response, or lack thereof. They aren’t saying much, instead attacking myself--not addressing the illegality of what they are doing The thing is, deflection only works for so long. Battleground Texas will be forced to account for their illegal activity. Sadly, this certainly isn’t all Project Veritas has caught them doing.”
The attorney for Battleground Texas argued that Texas law forbidding registration officials from “transcribing, copying or otherwise record a telephone number furnished on a registration application” doesn’t apply to volunteer deputy registrars of which Battleground Texas is using. An official investigation was opened by the Bexar County DA’s office, who said “she was looking at "possible penal implications" including charges of abuse of official capacity or even misuse of official information — a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a $10,000 fine.”

Lt. Gov Dewhurst Demands State Investigation
Days after Project Veritas broke an investigation into Battleground Texas, Jennifer Longoria, and their illegal data mining efforts, Lt. Gov. Dewhurst responded demanding an investigation. Battleground Texas attempted to dodge the statewide investigation and potential legal action after Project Veritas released an undercover investigation showing Battleground Texas illegally copying phone numbers off of voter registration forms. “The video speaks for itself. The beauty of video is actions are undeniable and clear for everyone to see,” said James O’Keefe. “Moreover, the Secretary of State has made it clear stating the “law applies to volunteer deputy registrars.” Project Veritas
Part 2
Project Veritas headed to the Lone Star State to expose the rampant and systemic corruption within the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare. While in Texas, undercover journalists captured numerous Obamacare navigators telling applicants to lie about their health status stating: “You lie because your premiums will be higher.” Adding insult to injury, many of the Obamacare Navigators, who receive millions each year courtesy of federal taxpayer, were caught on hidden camera boasting about how they always like on their own forms! Indeed, these nefarious navigators go as far as to advice applicants on how to defraud the federal government. Project Veritas focused on Enroll America, a 501(c)(3). While Enroll America ensured our journalists that these Navigators were vetted, that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Project Veritas’ cameras caught the navigators encouraging undercover reporters to lie about our income and deceive the IRS to receive more IRS subsidies. Further, Project Veritas uncovered that Enroll America was working directly and sharing data with the Political Action Committee Battleground Texas. It is important to note that providing data, mailing lists or other valuable resources from a 501 (c) (3) is prohibited unless certain conditions are met.

CAUGHT ON TAPE: Wendy Davis Supporters, BGTX Mock Greg Abbott’s Disability
While investigating Obamacare Navigators, Battleground Texas, and their connection to Obama's Organizing for America, Project Veritas caught some deeply offensive comments on tape.
Wendy Davis and Battleground Texas supporters are seen on camera making statements such as "Since he's in a wheelchair and most the slogans are "Stand with Wendy" and "Stand with Texas Women", isn't that amazing to think of? He's in a wheelchair and we want to stand with Wendy?" In another instance they say, "Greg Abbott (The Attorney General of Texas) is not, he's really not a sure thing, and he's really not real electable. First of all he's not good looking, he doesn't speak very well, he doesn't have a good personality, and he's in a wheelchair."
When asked about forging signatures on absentee ballots, Deputy Voter Registrar and attorney Lisa Wortham covered her ears and then went on to admit, "I've seen people do that all the time." Battleground Texas volunteer Celeste Grahm then added, "I don't think it's legal but I didn't hear you say that."
